You have an ingredient in your fridge that you know was on your most recent shopping list for a reason, and for the life of you cannot remember what it was?
Why on earth did I buy jalapenos? All I recall is that the recipe called for one, and that I had everything else on hand already except the jalapeno.
This is driving me mad. I've been going over magazines, cookbooks, and websites trying to figure out exactly what recipe I wanted to make. I just know that I'll remember what it is AFTER the jalapenos have gone south.

I laughed out loud reading this post. I have a small bottle of pineapple extract in my collection of such things. It's been there for quite awhile - like 5 years at least. At the time I hunted all OVER trying to even FIND pineapple extract - it took me a couple of months of looking - and finally in an obscure little independent market I found it. I was elated. Brought it home. Ah-hem. Couldn't for the life of me remember what it was I was going to use it for. I think it was cookies. I've looked high and low amongst my recipe files, magazines I had at the time. Nothing. So, anybody need some pineapple extract?
Pineapple extract! Now I'm going to have to look for that recipe too. :-)
I did figure it out, btw. It took me all day, but I finally remembered that the jalapeno is for a pumpkin sauce for black bean enchiladas. Now I can actually make them soon.
Or add them to cornbread:)
Or make some guacemole?
Very funny - I do this. In fact I am capable of walking into a room and forgetting why I entered in the first place...
Not good
Jep, cornbread with jalapenos would be tasty! And since I bought 3 jalapenos, and only needed 1...
gbvc, that's really annoying isn't it! I'll sit at the computer to look something up and completely go blank...for a few days before I remember what it was. Annoying!
